Steel Material Study

Design-Build Studio

Spring 2019

New Orleans

As part of a material study for the Albert and Tina Small Center for Collaborative Design, partner Luke Borden and I experimented with plasma-cutting steel to increase its rigidity and create light and shadow. The goal was to create an interesting pattern while finding the maximum structural efficiency of the steel. This could then be potentially applied to the shade pavilion on which the studio was working.
